Here is a one car covered hopper it kept its class HTc and number 63924. A photo of it is in Craig Bossler's book. This is an Athearn car with a scratch built roof.

here's a "down-on" view from 1981 or so at the ex-PC Pavonia yard in Camden NJ. All 15 of the class were assigned to sand service on the PRSL (which Rdg had one-third ownership of) for the sand pits near Millville and Bridgeton NJ.

Here's a link to a photo of my version of the LOp hopper. Roof is built out of sheet styrene. Custom decals for the yellow panel.

There is an article by Bob Losse in the September 1997 Model Railroader about building RDG early covered hoppers. He says that the roofs from LOa were reused on LOp cars. He gives dimensions.

the roofs on the LOp cars came from LOh class #79134-79169 covered hoppers which were converted from HTr 2 bay ribbed hoppers. if you go to the rolling stock reference file on this site. and go to the covered hopper page.click on LOh and it states AFE#24611 16 LOh cars retired, and roofs placed on HTx cars for Millville sand service, new class LOp 79170-79185, December 1967.
