TOPIC: RDG Locomotive & Switcher Horns...

RDG Locomotive & Switcher Horns... 8 years 1 month ago #5204

Hi guys,

Is there a list of the horns that were used on Reading locomotives & switchers?

I have the following and need to find out so when I add sound decoders I can use the right horns.

SD45
GP40-2
GP39-2
GP35
GP30
C630
MP15
SW1500

Thanks in advance,

Jas...

Leslie air horns were used on all models you listed.

Custom finish makes the horn kits which I prefer so I can arrange the bells to match the model. These are all low mounting horns used by the RDG.

#220 is used for the GP30 which is the double bell. I use #219 for the single bell.

#221 is used for the rest of the road units with bells re-arranged as needed.
#219 can be used for the EMD switchers.

They go together real nice, just clean them up a little and I use CA to glue them together.

Thanks Ron for the reply, it's greatly appreciated. Do you have the specific Leslie model numbers that go with each of the locomotives listed?

I'll be looking into the Custom Finish kits too as I have one or two that are missing the horns from the box.

Thanks Jas...

They are all Leslie's. When you order the numbers I gave you, Custom Finish indicates what the horn specifics are. It's just that the RDG arranged the bells differently. Just reference the pics you have for the arraignments.
