This board is the place where questions and information specific to MODELING the Reading Company, its equipment and operations can be shared - questions like "What was the window arrangement of AF Tower in Alburtis?" and "What color paint do YOU use to paint the Reading's cream-and-brown buildings?" We also want to hear about YOUR Reading modeling projects!

Thanks for your encouragement! I did the dirty deeds: I replaced the old switches and most of the connecting track, and I installed the NCE Power Cab. I never realized just how sensitive DCC is to dirty track and wheels, but once I got everything cleaned up, all is well. Once I'm sure that everything is running properly I'll ballast the new track, install the Blair Line road crossings, and patch up the roadway.

Use some CRC26 spray on the rails - that will clean them up and improve conductivity. Just a couple quick sprays here and there, and then run trains - they'll coat the rails for you!

I'm back. Even though Holy Week is one of my busiest, I managed to get the railroad back in business, complete with new track and DCC. Thanks for all the helpful advice, guys!

Number 83 is a Bowser Executive VO-1000. I need to start installing some decoders in (or replacing!) older power.
