As noted in another response to your question, the P7 engines lasted in service until 1949. While they were typically assigned to lesser main line trains, they ran between Philly and Williamsport with two to three express (baggage) cars and two coaches. One account in a Bert Pennypacker article caught a wartime, fourteen coach running from Philly to Reading. Bert noted the train was keeping schedule. Yes, American Flyer copied the P7, which was the only rear cab Atlantic type on the P&R/RDG. Video footage exists of these engines, in their waning days, pulling all arch-roofed, local passenger
trains.
