What's the difference between a GP40-2 and GP39-2? What year did the Reading dieselize? How many tracks were in Rutherford Yard? This board focuses on a discussion of questions or issues concerning the "prototype" Reading Company and its predecessors. While the aim of this board is to serve as a resource for prototype information for modeling purposes, general discussion and sharing of knowledge is also encouraged.

One Layout Design Element (LDE) I am working on currently for my own layout is the Met Ed Titus power generating facility along the Belt Line near Klapperthal Jct. This is a bituminous coal fired plant. I am wondering what hopper cars are appropriate there. I am guessing B&O or perhaps I can get away with WM, but I wouldn't exclude them being N&W on a guess. I doubt that they were sending Reading cars down for Bituminous loads. Anyone have photos circa 1974.

Thanks,
Rob

Se attached photo for reference. Taken on 30 OCT 2011, - no they don't burn snow for power. Cars in photo are CR / NS mix

Rob, sorry, no photos. I am fairly certain (95%) that over the years watching the action at that location that the hoppers were N&W.
