What's the difference between a GP40-2 and GP39-2? What year did the Reading dieselize? How many tracks were in Rutherford Yard? This board focuses on a discussion of questions or issues concerning the "prototype" Reading Company and its predecessors. While the aim of this board is to serve as a resource for prototype information for modeling purposes, general discussion and sharing of knowledge is also encouraged.

from the ground the Reading F-3 and the F-7 looked the same. it was only the dynamic brake area that was different.

Ok. Here i was thinking that the RDG units had the 5th fan in front of the group of 4. So THIS F7 would work, but I would put the longitudinal slots as you have shown, where the 5th fan would be on other units?

The 5th fan version I'm talking about:

Also, is the B unit identical as well?

That is correct, on the C&O unit or any other F-7 the large Dynamic Brake Fan is replaced by the panel with 2 rectangular slots.

Sorry I didn't get back to you Turbo, I work Saturdays. But Bill answered your question for you. I did provide you with those N scale dimensions. I hope you have digital calipers to help with those dimensions. If not, you can get digital calipers on the cheap from Harbor Freight.
