sorry guys... by "trash" I ment all the weathering and such -vs- a rolling baggage car that probably was much better maintained.
Granted... I did not look at the details as closely, so if you'd really have to redo so much on an Athearn, then the BCW is the better choice.

Well it all hinges on the scene one is actually modeling. If you are representing a scene "based" on the scene at Modena, then probably a kitbashed kit car is appropriate, perhaps even an old roundhouse wood coach would work. East Penn Jct. makes steel cars usable for the same "based on" atmosphere.

On the other hand if you are modeling East Penn Jct. or Modena an d you wish to attain that "this is the way it was" feel,and the proper car happens to exist, then other than financial constraints, why wouldn't you use the "real thing." Unless one wanted to scratch build a duplicate that you feel would be better looking or more challenging to accomplish than just plucking down someone else's work that you just finished.

There are always multiple degrees to which we do our modeling, which is why we all have to build our own layout to our own liking and level.

Here is another eBay grab that I had to share! This is a neat shot of the magazine stand inside the Outer Street Station taken in 1964. Does anyone remember that stand?

Heres something interesting from a video I found on youtube. I was not aware that at least 1 GP-35 was painted solid green, seen at 3:21 of the video. The video itself is of early conrail and the unit is in a large consist going over horseshoe curve. Theres other shots of Reading power but that was the most interesting.

Not only did the Reading have one solid green GP-35, of course that being the 3640, but it currently resides at Hamburg, PA. under the ownership of the RCT&HS. Conrail did manage to paint it blue, but one day it should again wear the solid green to represent the final Reading paint scheme on the museums roster.
