Matt Fisher has submitted these photos of his extensive collection of nicely detailed and weathered Reading Company motive power. While many of these models are factory painted in Reading schemes, the photos show how much of a difference a good weathering job can make in creating a one-of-a-kind unit!

Description:
Reading Alco RS3 was one of 3 such units painted into the second-generation yellow and green scheme. Note the weathering on the trucks. In the 1970s, this unit was repainted into the "Reading Green" scheme, making it the only unit to wear all three diesel paint schemes!

Matt submitted this photo of one of the recent Athearn Reading 40' "Billboard" boxcars. Although the ladder, class and number are not strictly accurate, and the points of the "billboard" should be blunt on a full-height ladder car, these are attractive cars, made moreso by the subtle weathering job that suggests that this car is relatively new.

Matt's Proto2000 model of Reading GP30 #3617 is nicely weathered - we especially like the blackened vent screens!

Reading #7603 was one of 5 SD45s on the roster. What made this model stand out for us is the weathering on the fuel tank - the dark streaks really give the look of a freshly fueled unit. The trucks are also nicely highlighted from the weathering.

Description:
In the early 1970s the Reading purchased 5 GP40-2 locomotives from EMD for the express purpose of hauling the "Joanna Turn" ore train from the Grace Mine near Morgantown to the blast furnaces at Bethlehem, PA. Matt's models are fully detailed, and the subtle weathering suggests a relatively new appearance - they are not yet heavily coated with iron ore dust...

GP40-2 #3672 is in the "rocking chair" of the 3-unit consist that will power today's Joanna Turn. Again, a very effective weathering job on the trucks, with a little bit of ore dust on the body.
