Contributing Editor John Caples has been a long-time Reading Modeler. Growing up in the Birdsboro/Pottstown area, he had significant exposure to action along the Main Line in the Reading's final years. An avid kitbasher, he's created unique models of several Reading prototypes, including the Continuous Welded Rail train featured elsewhere on the site. Jerry Strangarity's Reading Company Layout was featured in the November, 2010 issue of Model Railroader. Set in the 1930s-1940s, the layout features many highly-detailed, scratchbuilt structures and spectacular scenery as the line runs through the urban industrial landscape of Philadelphia through the southeastern Pennsylvania countryside to Reading and up the Main Line to the coal regions.

Reading Modeler Contributing Editor John Hall is the author of "Reading Company Cabooses" and a frequent contributor to the RCT&HS publication "The Bee Line," sharing information regarding the Reading's varied collection of rolling stock using information culled from the Society's archives. Originally hailing from Wilmington, DE, a cab ride as a young boy sparked a lifelong interest in the Reading, and he models the road in S-Scale. He's taken some time out from his research to share some of his models with The Reading Modeler community.

The photos in this album have been provided by Jeff Smith, and were taken on his home layout (under construction) and the Stiegel Valley Model Railroad Club HO Scale layout in Manheim, PA. The Club models the Reading's Reading and Columbia branch in Lancaster County in HO, and features some exquisite detailing and scratchbuilt structures. Jeff is currently constructing an HO home layout depicting the Pottsville, PA area.
