Rob I found it. I knew I had a another photo of this crane with the arms for lifting trailers.

Photo caption says Philly 1972, Note the Mack truck in the background. Looks like the same one missing the fender in the previous photo. (plus there is the aluminum ladder and several other details that are the same in both photo's.

BTW re-looking at this photo. The truck is missing BOTH fenders!

These two photos were taken within very close time proximity to each other. The Norfolk & Western trailer is at the same place, the "Mack" is at the same place, The yellow and blue utility truck is at the same place and the spool of wire or whatever near the foot of that ladder is at the same place....on both photos.... (is this one of those can you spot the differences photos in opposite world?)

On the Mack, yes and from this angle it looks like maybe those fenders were intentionally cut off rather than just wrecked. Perhaps to allow for tighter turning within the trailer yard?? It also looks like both trucks have the same RTCo decal on the door.

Also not only does the straddle have the Reading diamond, notice it has Reading on the cross-member to the right of the diamond, maybe in speed lettering, I can't tell on the angle.

I believe this is the Erie Avenue piggyback terminal. Used to see lots of light green Sears Roebuck trailers there.

Erie Ave... Obviously the Sears trucks were there to got on or off the train, so where did they go and on what train.....

TOFC was so different then. Most photos of Reading TOFC are two or thee cars at the head of a mixed freight, but I can't recall seeing much of a variety of trailers on them.

Piggyback to Allentown would have been in PA8 with the return in AP-15. Most west bounds to Rutherford and west would have been in the Alpha Jet trains or later in RPC 3/PCR 4. For those who don't know, the Erie Ave. TOFC facility was built at the former Erie Avenue Engine facility and opened in 1971.

Over a year ago these hi-rail trucks were mentioned here. While combing through e-bay found this slide of #40 in very nice condition. Now it was mentioned that Boyertown Body Works did the conversion on a Ford P series chassis, an interesting note is the wheel lug spacing 6 on 7.5" was last used in 1966 by Ford and most other manufactures. I mention this to help date trucks of the era, also too the size of tire might suggest an 8R19.5 which were around 35" tall.
