What's the difference between a GP40-2 and GP39-2? What year did the Reading dieselize? How many tracks were in Rutherford Yard? This board focuses on a discussion of questions or issues concerning the "prototype" Reading Company and its predecessors. While the aim of this board is to serve as a resource for prototype information for modeling purposes, general discussion and sharing of knowledge is also encouraged.

Curiosity got the best of me, and yes the fall of '49 brought on the "L" series which remained until 1952 and then the "R" series made it debut, short lived though only making it till Sept. 1955. Apparently the main spotting difference is the grill. Now, I think Classic Metal Works did the medium duty size R-190 which had a longer hood and wider fenders to accommodate 9.00 / 10.00-20 tires (remember driving on cold bias ply tires!!!) I don't know what it would take to kit-bash one of these, so who will be first?

Well Joanna Bill then, this Buds for you. You like Internationals and you have an obvious attachment to Joanna.... This photo is from my buddy Len Smith, I believe it was taken by his Uncle Charles Smith, who may have been an owner in the fuel oil business in Joanna. Sorry about the missing lower half, I didn't take the photo and I imagine the truck was not the target,

Found this on Ebay yesterday but didn't win it. Did anyone on this list win it? If so could I purchase a good scan of it?

Note the truck on the left. I can't make out what make or model it is. Can someone help me identify it. It looks like the front fender is damaged or partially removed.

Also note the Ford on the right. It has the blue RTCO diamond on it. I never saw this emblem on a vehicle before.

John... at first glance it looks like a White, but the roof and windshield arrangement has me leaning towards a Mack"B"

Chris,
I was under the same assumption. The top of the grill looks like a White but the rest of it reminds me of a Mack. So I couldn't guess either way. The front end damage doesn't help either.

The truck number is in the 300's. I know some Macks were in the 700 number series and the Whites were in the 500-501 series.

Thanks for your reply! I do think your right about it being a Mack!

John...the grill seemed out of place to me also.Kind of looks like a Mack "L" model, but the angle of the windshield makes it appear to be a "B".
Any Mack experts out there?
