This board is the place where questions and information specific to MODELING the Reading Company, its equipment and operations can be shared - questions like "What was the window arrangement of AF Tower in Alburtis?" and "What color paint do YOU use to paint the Reading's cream-and-brown buildings?" We also want to hear about YOUR Reading modeling projects!

Here is a pair of "old" Roundhouse examples as HTw.

Steve at Iron Horse graciously allowed me to examine these in detail. They are quite an improvement over the old Roundhouse cars, much nicer detail. Even though I already have way too many of this class for the era I model, I'll probably get some of these, too.....However, the Atlas 70 ton car is actually closer to the Reading prototype, I think. Comments?

You're not the first person to make that suggestion, so most likely, you are correct. I personally don't have any of the Atlas cars, so I haven't made a comparison to my HTw photos yet. Great, I just gave myself another project.

Athearn can add all the details they want, but for $27 msrp they could have cut a new master core. The rib detail is utterly ridiculous for a 2014 product. Depending on quantity, The much nicer Atlas cars are going for a far more reasonable $15 to $20 online.

per a question from Mr. Bill..... The track embedded in asphalt directly in front the station lead to the below coal bins in Temple, which belong to Elvin A. Adams Coal & Fuel Oil. He was also the Agent at Temple. BTW, a recently discovered picture by Steve Gilbert is sending this structure back to the work bench for about four corrections.
