Allen Keller's Great Model Railroads vol.57 features Jim Hertzog's RDG layout...I must for RDG fans.
It would have been interesting to see what newer motive power the LNE would have transitioned to if the company survived into the 70's.The company loved their Alcos...I bet an Alco C430 would have looked awesome in the LNE scheme.

Well look what I dug up! Most of you will recognize this little guy from the Color Guide to Freight book...FWb deep-well flat. It started life as a Micro-Trains 50' fisbelly. I sanded down the fishbelly to the contour it needed, added some styrene strip, cut a big hole in the middle, added more styrene strip, and then added more styrene strip. The brackets are Styrene I-beam strip. Seems to be a pattern here...All it needs is a couple more places to be re-puttied, archer rivet decals and a shot of flat. I already have the decals printed and ready to apply when that time comes. I didn't bring it with me to Korea, but did pack it in a box for my wife to ship out this week. You can't tell from this view, but I accurately made the decks out of wood, for the time period of 1950s. I assume at some point in the 60s or 70s it was fitted with sheet steel.

While the old forum was shut down I added another dynamic brake equipped RS3 to my roster...498.

RS3 498 leads two sisters 494 and 487.

Ya Chris. I can almost feel the glugging of the RS-3 idleing and the smell of fuel oil exhaust.
