What's the difference between a GP40-2 and GP39-2? What year did the Reading dieselize? How many tracks were in Rutherford Yard? This board focuses on a discussion of questions or issues concerning the "prototype" Reading Company and its predecessors. While the aim of this board is to serve as a resource for prototype information for modeling purposes, general discussion and sharing of knowledge is also encouraged.

Oh Jeff... YES... a Z28 Supervisors car would be way-cool... but knowing what I've read on how frugal the Reading was... would have never happened!

There is always rule 1.... "it's my railroad" ;)
Thanks,
Barry

WOW... just saw a Reading pick-up truck, right here in Michigan!!!

What... don't believe me... check it out...

OK, ok... so it doesn't have the nice RDG sign.... but I'd say it's near a perfect match as possible, even the color!

Hey Jeff... back to your suggestion... is this what you were referring to??

camaro-cop.jpg

found this while searching for Ford pick-up models that match the MoW one's in this post. Nothing available, so to model those pick-ups would be a small challenge.

The Camaro is the same as the one's I have, made by Brikina in Europe.
Thanks,
Barry

I went to the Hagley Museum and this is some of the info. I found there. see attachment:

RTCO owned 86 tractors in 1967. I do not know the difference between a Mack D or a Mack G type tractors. Also a White D and White G is listed. Could that be dual and single axle trucks???? Anyone want to guess? Or am I totally off base here?

Also note the 12 White trucks and the 12 aluminum bodies. (delivery box van I assume). Sure would kill to see a photo of one!

Also in 1973 they bought 3 - 45 foot trailers. No mention of course of the number or builder. I believe that they were used trailers.

More from the Hagley Museum,

RTCO loaned Kerns Transit Co. in 1961 the following equipment,

(RTCO proposed to buyout Kerns but it failed to go through in 1963)

Ford truck #12

Chevy truck #25

White tractor #500-501

Mack tractor #550

Strict trailers #300-305 and 373-401

___________________________________________________________________________________

1969 RTCO proposes to become an "Air Freight Forwarder". Could you imaging a bunch of RTCO jets flying around? But it never materialized.

_________________________________________________________________________________________

RTCO had 2 mobile service units to service locomotives for water - sand - diesel fuel . # T-4 and T-5.

_________________________________________________________________________________

1959 RTCO acquires flatbed trailers 35F4 - 35F13 Wasn't these the trailers marked
"Reading Transportation Steel Division"

___________________________________________________________________

RTCO will have to convert 30' open top single axle trailers #3000-3008 to 35' open top dual axle trailers # 35 OT1- 35OT9.

_____________________________________________________________________________

RTCO retired in 1963 tractor #604 and trailers # 3017 and 3022.

______________________________________________________________________________

RTCO retired in 1961 White tractor 611, 614, 675, 676, 679. These were built in 1946-47.

__________________________________________________________________

RTCO had leased some tractor units from a company referred to as "Bucks Rental ". Tractors R-61 to R-65,
R-67 to R77 and R-160.
( I assume the "R" in the number means that it is a rental or leased tractor)

I have a photo of a tractor and the number is prefixed by an "R" and it is also painted in the RTCO blue with yellow door emblem.
