What's the difference between a GP40-2 and GP39-2? What year did the Reading dieselize? How many tracks were in Rutherford Yard? This board focuses on a discussion of questions or issues concerning the "prototype" Reading Company and its predecessors. While the aim of this board is to serve as a resource for prototype information for modeling purposes, general discussion and sharing of knowledge is also encouraged.

Just found this photo. Notice the truck has a crew cab. Stepside bed that has a topper to keep things dry in the bed. Also something in front of the grill area that is resting on the bumper. What is it?

John... or anyone...
just not sure looking at the posted picture... what color is the beacon? yellow or red? Kinda looks yellow...

I have some color signal lens's (old school Bachman signal towers/bridges) that I can use as the beacon!

Looked all over for an air horn... none, so I "borrowed" one from my old original Tyco GP20 shells. It was those two engines (had a pair) that got me into the Reading!!

thanks
Thanks,
Barry

Barry - Go with the amber beacon. Even in the late 60's, police and fire had red lights everything else was usually yellow.

I agree with Bill. Go with the yellow beacon. Being a firefighter myself. I know that only Fire and Police were allowed to run the red beacon back then.

Ok... thanks for the advice on color for the beacon. Got it completed and instead of the GP20 horn, I borrowed one from an Athearn semi truck kit.

Now... I'm done!
Thanks!
