What's the difference between a GP40-2 and GP39-2? What year did the Reading dieselize? How many tracks were in Rutherford Yard? This board focuses on a discussion of questions or issues concerning the "prototype" Reading Company and its predecessors. While the aim of this board is to serve as a resource for prototype information for modeling purposes, general discussion and sharing of knowledge is also encouraged.

some cars had a yellow stripe above the reporting marks, some had a blue one. this was done to show what cars were assigned to the Domino refinery, or the Jack Frost refinery, in Phila.

I appreciate the information about assignments and things on car sides. My question had more to do with the blue panel on the slope sheet.

This may not be the right number. I couldn't find it in the M-O-W listing. Any info, especially about tank and tank dome diameter. Suggestions for modeling? Another eBay photo.

Yes Francis,
The covered hopper cars that were assigned to sugar service that had the blue "restricted Service" rectangle on the side of the car also had the Blue rectangle on the end slope sheet as well. Cars in the LOg, LOn, Lor, Los classes had them. Are there any others that I forgot to mention???

What a gem! also in for info. it looks like it was taken in the 50s, and the car was obviously modified specifically for those tanks...Any inputs Mr. Hall?

Car No. 90941 is listed in the MOW pdf as TMd 90941 Tank Car, converted 7- 2-23 from GAb 23274, 36" dome. No retirement date is listed, but some TMd tank cars lasted into the 70s.

Something doesn't seem right. The tank care in the picture has 4 domes. They don't look to be 36". Maybe it was modified at one point.
