What's the difference between a GP40-2 and GP39-2? What year did the Reading dieselize? How many tracks were in Rutherford Yard? This board focuses on a discussion of questions or issues concerning the "prototype" Reading Company and its predecessors. While the aim of this board is to serve as a resource for prototype information for modeling purposes, general discussion and sharing of knowledge is also encouraged.

The Plymouth "Buck" AND 55-cent gas.. a double treat.. Bet that road's got a lot more traffic...looks like Germantown Pike and Chemical Rd, looking towards Philly.. Chemical Rd was the "feeder" from when I-476 wasn't done yet...OK Mr T1 nut-you must have something from around there!

Mitch, the branch is long gone, Germantown pike is 4 lanes and a shoulder on the westbound side.Chemical road is 5 lanes wide taking up where the R of W used to be for the branch, there is a trail/path on the R of W where Chemical road goes under I-476 south to just south of Ridge Pike. They just replaced the bridge on Elm St in Conshohocken over the branch. They are planning on building condos from Elm St to the Septa Norristown line, which means the south end area where the wye was will be totally gone. Not much left of the branch.

adding to the "Plymouth Buck " photo where Kaiser refractories was,is now the "Metroplex" shopping center with Lowes,Best-Buy,Petsmart,Target,Old Navy, Dicks sporting goods, Giant supermarket, etc, etc. the interchange yard with the Upper Merion & Plymouth is now Home Depot, BJ's wholesale. and Ikea. alot has changed since Corsons quarry, and Kaiser refractories has closed. they were the last industries on the branch.both closed early to mid 1980's.
