Reading Co. 50' "Banner" and "RDG" Boxcar Decals Have Arrived!
The Reading Modeler is pleased to announce the arrival of TWO new Reading decal sets: 50' "Banner" boxcars, and 1970s "RDG" boxcars! The "Banner" set includes data to accurately letter 10 classes of 50' boxcars in this scheme, which are appropriate for the 1960s-1970s era. The "RDG" set includes data to letter 5 classes of 40' and 50' cars in the 1970s-era "RDG" scheme.
The "Banner" decals are $8.00 per set, while the "RDG" decals are $6.00 per set. Each set includes sufficient material to letter TWO cars, and are now available in the Reading Modeler Company Store!
IMPORTANT NOTE! Due to our supplier (Rail Graphics) ceasing operations, quantities of these newest decal sets are limited, particularly the "Banner" set. We are currently EXPLORING options to continue production with another supplier, but no definitive decisions have been made (we DO have a layout to build, after all!). Thus, when current stock is sold, they may be unavailable for a time.

New Modeling Article - AS-16s!
Hello Everyone,
Reading Modeler member Ron Giordani (reading5310) is one of our community's well-known diesel modelers, regarded for his willingness to break out the X-Acto knife and razor saw and cut into locomotive shells to kitbash and detail them to more closely meet Reading specifications. Frequent visitors to the site will likely have "followed his builds" on various Reading locos over the years.
Ron was kind enough to share his very detailed clinic on modeling the Reading's Baldwin AS-16 road switcher locomotives on the site. To access the article, Click here, and enjoy!
Happy Modeling,
Tom
Featured Again on the "A Modelers Life" Podcast!
I recently had a second opportunity to be interviewed on the "A Modeler's Life" podcast - this time along with fellow modeler Mike Deverell. The focus of this interview was specifically around the concepts, thoughts and planning processes involved with constructing a large layout inside a separate building constructed specifically as layout space. As many visitors to this site are aware, I'm presently constructing a large Reading layout in a 20x36 pole building that I built in 2012 at my home in Robesonia, PA.
As I've mentioned before, the "A Modeler's Life" podcast is well worth a listen. Check out their webpage here, and look for the podcast on iTunes! You can also visit their Facebook page here!
