Check Out the "A Modelers Life" Podcast!
One of the great trends in the rise of the internet in everyday life is Podcasting. For the uninitiated, a podcast is an internet "radio show" intended to be downloaded to your mobile device (originally the iPod - the "pod" in "podcasting") to be listened to at your leisure. Podcasts are available on a nearly infinite variety of subjects, from gardening to politics to music and comedy, and model railroading is no exception! There are several podcasts (available for download via iTunes) on our hobby - one of these is "A Modelers Life," curated by noted modeler and former Model Railroader staffer Lionel Strang and his associates Jim Rindt and Bruce Wilson. While the show is focused on model railroading, it focuses more on the "back stories" of guests - how they got into the hobby, personal lives, etc.
I recently had the good fortune to be featured as a guest interviewee on Episode 46 and a followup segment known as the "Kelly Questions," created by Reading Modeler member and contributor (and W&N fan) Bruce Kelly of Oregon. This podcast is VERY entertaining and well worth a listen. Check out their webpage here, and look for the podcast on iTunes! You can also visit their Facebook page here!
Company Store is Back Online!
In response to several inquiries, we have re-activated the "original" Reading Modeler Company Store so that individuals can order any items that they desire. Unfortunately, updating the Company Store has taken significantly longer than anticipated due to family and work commitments, along with working on the layout. We are still planning to update the store to a better user interface and some new products that we've got in the works, but for now, the original store is back up and available - and as a further bit of good news, we've restocked our entire inventory, so anything you might want should be available! As always, click here to go there, and thanks for your patience!
Welcome to The Reading Modeler!
The purpose of this website is to provide an "electronic interchange" where individuals interested in model railroading and railroad history pertaining to the Reading Company and related railroads can obtain and share both prototype and model-related information. Just as cars are set out and picked up at the interchange, we hope that the content presented on the site will be dynamic as well, with new content continually being added as information is shared.
We will do our best to share information provided to us as quickly as possible; however, your patience is appreciated, as this is a volunteer labor of love in between full-time jobs, families, and our own modeling activities! Please don't be afraid to provide constructive criticism regarding the site's design or the manner in which content is organized and presented. If there's something you'd like to see included on the site, or more importantly, something you'd like to SHARE, please let us know! Our goal is to include as much information as possible that is of interest to those of you viewing the site,so please don't be shy about making your opinions known. Most of all, ENJOY the site, and THANKS for visiting!
