1972 Freight Schedule now Available!
Good News! We were finally able to publish the 1972 Reading Company Freight Schedule! Click here to visit the page - you will notice that the info is organized much like the 1970 Reading Company Freight Schedule; however, we have not included the animations in the interest of time and getting the content up and available for viewing. While there were some significant changes in traffic patterns between 1970 and 1972, there are plenty of similarities. Eventually we will work to get the cross-links for the connecting trains added. Having completed this, we'll now turn our attention to the 1968 Freight Schedule that we have in our possession.
PLEASE NOTE: We regret to note that the source material we were graciously provided by the Reading Railroad Heritage Museum did NOT include information regarding Local Service. Sufficient info is included in the 1970 and 1975 schedule to derive a reasonable approximation of local operations for your layout.
New Material Posted - Freight Car Diagrams!
It's been a busy winter outside of modeling interests here at the Reading Modeler, which has unfortunately prevented us from making many updates to the site. However, I'm happy to report that we DO have a new addition to share! Member Rob Hinkle has graciously shared a scanned PDF copy of Reading Company Freight Car Diagrams. We've housed this document in the Freight Car section of the Rolling Stock Reference. Click here to go to that page, where you can download and view the diagrams (60MB download).
New Material Posted - 1975 Freight Schedule!
In our renewed efforts to provide fresh material on the site, we're happy to announce that we've obtained a copy of the 1975 Reading Company Freight Schedule courtesy of the Reading Company Technical & Historical Society archives, and converted it to a PDF and made it available on the Reading Modeler. This provides an interesting contrast to the 1970 Reading Company Freight Schedule that we've shared on the site for some time. We have some other schedules that we are in the process of posting - these are valuable in planning operations on your Reading layout. In the interim, click here to view the 1975 schedule!
New Material Posted - Reading Company Track Drawings!
I'm happy to announce that I've FINALLY gotten around to posting some new material on the site. A while back, through a combination of eBay purchases and the generosity of fellow Reading modeler Rob Hinkle, I came into possession of a series of Reading Company track drawings that were made by employes in order to be qualified on the various lines (so I am told by a knowledgeable source). I've started to sort, scan and post these in the Photo Gallery. These provide a TON of detail useful for modeling - switch and signal locations, the names of various sidings, crossings, etc. - LOTS of useful details to help accurately depict locations along the right-of-way. We've started with the East Penn Branch, and will scan and post the remainder in the near future. Click Here to go to the Photo Gallery to view this new material!
