RDGTurn...I used the Microscale RDG barricade stripes for the pilots.I also used these on my 2780.There is a difference when it comes to the application of the black and yellow paints. On the MP15's you need to paint the anti-climber yellow,on the 2763 the anti-climber is painted black because the back striping is extended to the floor line.
See how the center yellow "V" and black stripes meet the green of the walk way.
Number 2 end.

Front pilot.

When side by side you can see how 2780's anti-climber is yellow and the black stripes do not extend up to the edge of the walk way.All the MP15's had their pilot stripes oriented that way.

The SW1001's were manufactured in Nov.73 and 2763 was shopped 7/74.The pilot stripe application on 2763 follows the same as applied on the SW1001's,Therefore the roof number will be applied to my 2763.It makes sense to me.

5310...Thanks

RDGTurn...The footboards used on 2763 came with the unit.On 2780 I used what Atlas supplied.DW footboards would work but I beleive their mounting pins are spaced wider so new holes would need to be drilled.

Finished with the decaling this morning.Five decal sets from Microscale were used.87-134 and 87-527 contained data decals for the unit.Sets 87-686/691/708 were used for the RDG decals.

Paint touch-ups was also done.I used polyscale RDG yellow as a primer coat on the grabs and step edges, when dried,I repainted with Floquil's reefer yellow.I also touched-up the coupler pocket area.

The numbers were placed for the number boards,my least favorite part of decaling. The old blue box 1500's had lens inserts, alot easier compared to the cast on number boards.

As explained in my C424 build I used my micron marker and shaded in all the window gaskets.

Also painted the center window frame silver.

A right side veiw of the unit.

The left side with a little observation. For those of us who have the RDG Athearn units did you ever wonder why the last standchion near the door never stays seated in its mounting hole on the walkway? The mounting hole on the cab is too high.It should be located below the molded on weld detail and if you look closely there's a circular area on the model where it should be drilled.I will remedy this on this model and the other three units.

Loss of mail and Railway Express Agency contracts prompts severe cuts in passenger service, including annulment of all service to Shamokin, and the Allentown-Harrisburg trains, and a reduction on remaining routes. RDCs replace most locomotive-hauled trains, freeing former passenger locomotives for freight service.
