TOPIC: Accurail 50 Foot Welded Boxcars

Accurail 50 Foot Welded Boxcars 11 years 7 months ago #2807

Hey Chris,

Those new Accurail Boxcars look good, the paint is fairly different and faded. Will be interested to see how they look next to my current crop.

I've been working on my own 50' Boxcars over the last few weeks. Not prototypical but needed more RDG rolling stock and these are turning out quite well.

Based on a Atlas 50' Undecorated - Outside Ribbed BC, with MicroScale Decals...

I repainted and decaled the Accurail car over the weekend. The car was painted using SCII RDG green which covered up the lettering on the car nicely. No stripping of the factory paint was needed.
Decaling was done using HK decals. The SB decal is from HK RDG covered hopper set.I worked off the picture in Bossler's book,of course the door is not correct for this car.
Again,some pictures before weathering.

I have some of those Accurail cars enroute, at least one's not going into inventory, so I'll snap a pic when it's finished.
