What's the difference between a GP40-2 and GP39-2? What year did the Reading dieselize? How many tracks were in Rutherford Yard? This board focuses on a discussion of questions or issues concerning the "prototype" Reading Company and its predecessors. While the aim of this board is to serve as a resource for prototype information for modeling purposes, general discussion and sharing of knowledge is also encouraged.

Found this on railpictures.net a recent picture of RDG 610 that went through the ICG rebuild program. Note that it kept the RDG handrail on the short hood. It's being repainted to ICG colors at The Bluegrass Railroad Museum.

Here is a photo of Reading’s only phase 1c2 GP35 no. 3656. According to the unofficial EMD site, this unit was order on May 1965 and was the only unit in the order. This photo was taken at Erie avenue on December 1967 by R. Short. Does anyone know the reason why the Reading placed the order for only one unit? Was it a replacement for a wreck? Note the bulge under the front headlight and the raised inertial filter hatch. Also, although the unit is less than two years old, it looks like something fell on it and dented the roof! The paint is still fresh, but showing some signs of weathering. Has anyone modeled this particular geep?

Hi Mark,

Tom is working on getting my clinic online. I do talk about the 1c2, it's spotting features and why it came about. So hang in there, you'll have your answers soon.

Traded for a wrecked GP-7 which was dumped in the Saucon Creek turntable pit..... Might have been the 662.
