What's the difference between a GP40-2 and GP39-2? What year did the Reading dieselize? How many tracks were in Rutherford Yard? This board focuses on a discussion of questions or issues concerning the "prototype" Reading Company and its predecessors. While the aim of this board is to serve as a resource for prototype information for modeling purposes, general discussion and sharing of knowledge is also encouraged.

Great photos - interesting signal configuration with the dwarf so close to the bracket mast, but given the topography of the area, makes sense. I remember this locale well, as there was a slight break in the treeline right there into which one could ride his bike to check the aspect of the signals to see if a train was coming.

Shame my current plans include the Low Grade coming out of BELT and not the Hill track...

Good eye Tom. I didn't even notice the dwarf. Whole bunch of details in that shot. And there's yet another two-head, single mast signal further up, just visible in front of the concrete overpass. Please dig up some more Rob!
I found that Penn State has Pa Sanborn maps online now. A 1918 map has that property with the siding as being Reading Chain and block corp.

I have about 32 feet covering Heister Lane to the Co-op on fifth Street Hiway. Mostly in 8 foot sections not connected together. It is a little rough (ok a lot rough) I do have a basic track plan in mind, but am mostly in prep and planning stages. I have been mulling over some ideas that could generate some more short runs and switching as opposed to a flat out running point A to point B type plan.

Here is a Trainmaster from a slide I bought on Ebay. Consensus is that this is Rutherford Yard, in the fall of 1967. Note the dark, Pullman Green paint patch for the renumbering. Reminiscent of SCII Pullman Green.
