Finished my 7603.The unit is a Walthers 2000.I used the unit as is,so the brake cylinders are not correct nor the mu hookup.These will be replaced in future.I built the cannon cab but I decided to use the proto cab with modification.This was my first attempt at building the RDG cab modification so it was a learning experience for me.I used PS RDG yellow,SCII RDG green.

Looks real good Chris!

I was going to add to Ron’s “follow the build” post a bunch of pictures that highlight some of the differences between the Kato and Proto SD45 shells. However, I didn’t want to mess up his post since Tom is going to convert it into an article.

My bias is definitely towards the Proto shell, it has finer detail and is more dimensionally accurate than the Kato shell. Regardless, both you and Ron showed that either can be used to produce a nice Reading model.

If I get some time hopefully this week I am going to start one of my SD-45's and my start on relief train 90906.I have undecorated Athearn/Lionel 250 ton BucyrusErie crane still the box that my mother bought me in 1978 at Fennel's Hobbies in Schuylkill Haven. I remember them and Versa-Tron on Sunbury St. Minersville.Brings back memories Chris. Todd Shoffler

the last 2 1/2 months I've finished 2 LOd covered hopper kitbashes. #79382,79393. repainted and redecaled LOp covered hopper #79180,in yellow & green. XMc box #109009,XMw #104295, both in R.R. Roman lettering, XMy box #106003 in Y & G speed lettering. kitbashed snow flanger XMux #92010.and scratch built snow plow #50. all but the LOd covered hoppers were done with Reading Modeler decals. waiting for the white boxcar speed lettering decals to be released. I have at least 4 boxcars to repaint & redecal. getting rid of the old champ lettering on my cars.
