What's the difference between a GP40-2 and GP39-2? What year did the Reading dieselize? How many tracks were in Rutherford Yard? This board focuses on a discussion of questions or issues concerning the "prototype" Reading Company and its predecessors. While the aim of this board is to serve as a resource for prototype information for modeling purposes, general discussion and sharing of knowledge is also encouraged.

Here is a Bethlehem Branch passenger run headed toward Philly. RS-3, 1-combine, 1-baggage, 1-RPO and a coach with at least 2 passengers.

I might have seen that very train passing through Perkasie. Isn't it funny that so-called head end cars often weren't found on the head end of Reading trains?

Thanks for sharing your library with us, Bill!

All this talk about RS-3's in the General Discussion Forum leads to another RS-3 Post

Note the arrangement of railings etc. on 446 and compare this to some of the other RS-3's on this thread.

Loss of mail and Railway Express Agency contracts prompts severe cuts in passenger service, including annulment of all service to Shamokin, and the Allentown-Harrisburg trains, and a reduction on remaining routes. RDCs replace most locomotive-hauled trains, freeing former passenger locomotives for freight service.
