What's the difference between a GP40-2 and GP39-2? What year did the Reading dieselize? How many tracks were in Rutherford Yard? This board focuses on a discussion of questions or issues concerning the "prototype" Reading Company and its predecessors. While the aim of this board is to serve as a resource for prototype information for modeling purposes, general discussion and sharing of knowledge is also encouraged.

Bill-sort of. They were from the RS3b class, former psgr units. I recently disposed of a 100 years of the old Extra 2200 South mags thinking most of the info could be found on-line. Wrong! One of the 1974 or 75 issues had news items submitted concerning RS3 dispos and those 3 are in one of these news items! They were retired along with all the others active in 1974.... if you have the old X2200s's, you can easily find them as only 4 to 6 issues per year were printed. I always thought it interesting the 494 seems to be assigned to Pottsville looking at many of it's latter-year pictures, only to go to the "other" end of the Rdg system in South Jersey!
