Seeing trains circle the Christmas tree is as much of a warm memory for me as the RDG trains of the late 50s and early 60s.--Dave

Rapido really does a spectacular job on their models. Rather high price point, but it will be best in class.

Reading RDC's were the jumping off point for many of my early year adventures, including the Wall Street to Newark. Warm memories there.

Well, it looks like enough preorders were placed for the Reading RDCs that Rapido will be making them after all. They just posted a list over on The Atlas Rescue Forum of road names in danger of not being produced due to lack of preorders.

Here is the list (some road names may surprise you):
PGE
Amtrak
B&M McGinnis
CNJ
MBTA
New Haven (both)
PRSL

At $225 MSRP for the DC version, I have no choice but to pass. Maybe if these get heavily discounted (either by online retailers or on ebay) I’ll get one.

Personally, for that kind of money, I would rather buy a steam engine.

Thanks, Mark

Mark, at that price I would agree with you. if it were DCC at that price I might consider a purchase.

Was going to get one, but with several P1K models, have decided to add the Soundtraxx RDC decoders. After all, the Proto models were a welcomed model to replace the ATT and Athearn models.

Does the Soundtraxx decoder help with the slow speed issue. I haven't run mine for a long time - but I seem to recall they ran like slugs - the polar opposite of the Athearn's with their rubber band drives and spongy stops. (as much as I loved them when I got a pair for my 12th birthday)
